Lenovo's latest free laptops model could be the start of a new era for mobile computers, according to a gadget website.
In a Pocket-lint review of laptops on display at the Consumer Electronics Show 2010, the Lenovo Skylight was singled out as the star of the show.
The free laptops trailblazer boasts a 10-1.inch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and opts for the Lenovo ME operating system over Windows 7.
It has been billed as a smartbook – a new free laptops category that sits between a netbook and a mobile phone.
"It has the kind of usual features you'd expect but with a custom interface courtesy of Lenovo with widget-based access to the world," said technology correspondent Dan Sung. "Is the smartbook the future of laptops?"
Alternatively, fans of Lenovo free laptops may prefer the added performance of another recent release.
The Lenovo IdeaPad S12-2959 packs in a larger 12.1-inch display and a more powerful 1.6Ghz central processing unit.
