Asus laptops were originally a product of the Taiwanese manufacturer's exhaustive knowledge of motherboards and PC components (which, incidentally, Asus also make for other companies). However, it surely has to be their own products, their own Asus laptops, that they're best known for now.
As of the start of this year, the company is actually split up into 3 distinct groups: ASUS, responsible for their own brand machines, including Asus laptops; Pegatron, who make motherboards and components for other companies to use in their machines; and Unihan, who make non-PC products, such as cases.
Asus laptops also come in two distinct flavours. The first is what you might call the standard notebook computer, the standard Asus laptop. The second is a newer entrant into the world of PCs, the humble netbook, the little Asus laptops that pack a surprising amount of punch in their tiny bodies, whether powered by Linux or Windows.
